| Extended Essay |
The extended essay offers students the opportunity to investigate a topic of individual interest, and acquaints them with the independent research and writing skills expected at the university level.
Successful completion of the Extended Essay (EE) is a mandatory requirement of the IBO for the Diploma. Students will work with a Supervisor who will assist the student in the research process. A topic is chosen and a Supervisor assigned in the Spring of the Junior year. The student is responsible for finding a way to communicate with the Supervisor during the Summer. The students are required to complete each section of the timeline prior to the date listed and have their Supervisor sign off on it. Additionally, students will be provided with an EE binder, which will contain all information related to EE. The binder must be brought to each feedback meeting, with all appropriate materials, for credit to be given.
